Summary:

I tried saving as .jpg, but text became corrupted in the process. Church Slavonic is a very complicated font.

Thanks for your help, CGAND. I tried your suggestion unsuccessfully. When I tried to access the pdf at
http://www.st-sergius.org/services/SlavMN/12-11A.pdf
the text was jumbled just as when I saved .pdf as .jpg. Thankfully, I had downloaded good versions of all the other services months ago and they are fine in .pdf. This may be my error - don't know what I did.
So I still don't know how to clip from the pdf. I've manipulated many .jpg scanned images of the same text successfully. Last two weeks I've had to type the stuff in Church Slavonic with great difficulty, since it's not my native language, and Mr Gates' new WP is not too pleased with my font, 'specially created for his software.

I've succesfully downloaded the pdf you linked and copy and paste the text (it is not a .jpg). Have you installed the cyrillic fonts on your system?
