It is a revision package for GIMP 2.10.32, already released a a few months ago, re-built with our new MacPorts-based infrastructure on both x86_64 (“macOS on Intel” architecture) and AArch64 (“macOS on Apple Silicon”).

Note that we provide 2 DMG packages now, one for each architecture, not a single universal package. The website will try and detect which architecture you are on, but if it fails to detect properly (detection is not as easy on some browsers), be careful to choose the version for the correct hardware (“for Intel” or “for Apple Silicon“).

This is why we recommend every person on macOS (whichever your hardware) to update GIMP with this revision 1 of GIMP 2.10.32.

How to extract pages from PDF on iPad with a-Shell and pdfrw

Using a-Shell and pdfrw

Following this previous tutorial Using youtube-dl on iPad I’ve installed pdfrw, a Python library and utility that reads and writes PDF files.

It came with a lot of examples that let you modify metadata, create booklet, rotate pages, extract pages, add watermark and more. To extract pages I’ve downloaded the subset.py example.

Install a-Shell from App Store
Open a-Shell and run the command pip install —upgrade pip to update pip to last version
Install pdfrw with pip install pdfrw
Move to a-Shell home folder with cd ~/Documents
Create bin subfoler with mkdir bin
Download subset.py to bin subfolder

Usage: subset.py my.pdf page[range] [page[range]] …
eg. subset.py my.pdf 1-3 5 7-9
It creates subset.my.pdf file with pages 1,2,3,5,7,8,9.
You can use other examples to modify your PDFs as you like.

Using Files app

Open the PDF and tap the share icon
Select Print
Tap Range and specify the starting and end pages. Then you can swipe and check the page thumbnail to create a custom range.
Tap Print.
Select Save to Files. It will make a new PDF with just the selected pages and save it.

#Chromium #macOS FreeSMUG build discontinued

About ten years ago (2011.01.18) I released the first buid of Chromium v. 8.0.552.237.
Sadly I've to announce that after 254 releses I've to discontinue this project.

Chrome is the new Explorer and, if privacy matter to you, please switch to Safari or Firefox.

If you need Chromium to solve Chrome incompatibility issue with standard browsers you can find last releases here:

Pepper&Carrot ep. 33 The Spell of War is out

Hey, so here is the second and last part of the Battlefield arc; I hope you liked it. It's an obvious reference to the life points system used in many video games but also on Tabletop RPGs. It also was a necessary episode to demotivate Pepper to use her power for war or to help armies; a very important element into the larger big story I have in mind for Pepper&Carrot.
